SYSTEM
Summary – These 3 aquatron models are full flush systems into outside or basement tanks which have rotating containers with the Aquatron separator on top taking most liquids from the solids and depositing the solids into the container below.
When full, the container is rotated to the next, empty, container and the full container left to compost (using composting worms) down to 10% of the original volume within a year.
Conventional plumbing and toilets are used in the house and the below floor piping requires installation of a tank that is gravity fed by the plumbing waste system.
This allows the benefits of composting toilets for nutrient recycling in a situation where a full flush system is required.
System Type – Full Flush – Tank (Rotating tanks)
Liquids mode – No urine separation in the standard system, although a urine separating toilet pedestal can be used if required.
Situation – For when you want a system that has to use a flush toilet and you have space within piping distance for the tank.
Operation – Simply use a standard flush toilet in the bathroom.
The liquids and solids from the toilet fall into the Aquatron spinner which separates the solids from the liquids. The solids simply drop down into one of the 4 pie shaped composting containers and the liquids are UV treated and then further treated either in a greywater system or ground absorption bed.
The composting chambers are observed and when nearly full, turned 90 degrees. The liquids need to have a free running irrigation system checked periodically. If a ventilation fan is used, check periodically for operation.
Capacity – Different capacity for each model:
AQUATRON 4×100 – 300 visits per compartment or 2 persons full time or 5 part time
AQUATRON 4×200 – 600 visits per compartment or 5 persons full time
AQUATRON 4×300 – 900 visits per compartment or 10 persons full time or 40 part time / during business hours..
Design – The system uses the Aquatron rotating system of 4 chambers, along with the “Aquatron Separator”, which takes most of the water out of the toilet deposits and redirects it away through a UV filter and then on to below ground irrigation.
All the 4× models operate the same, except that they have different capacities.
There are minimal moving parts, so a low risk of mechanical failure.
Construction – The pedestal is a conventional full flush ceramic toilet pedestal. The tank and components are made from recyclable polyethylene and glass reinforced polyester. The life span is 50 years.

Energy Use – There is no power consumption in the toilet and composting unit. If you choose to use the UV treatment for the greywater, then the unit uses about that of a log energy bulb (50 – 70 watts..
System Includes – Tank and accessories, aquatron spinner and joining pipes. Remote systems require extra pipe and plumbing fittings.
Options Available – The three sizes available as indicated are for different usage requirements.
A UV system for treating the liquids is available.
A phosphorus filter is also available where warranted.
A urine diversion pedestal is also available
Greywater Solution – A UV treatment system for greywater is available. The UV treatment eliminates bacterial and virus and the liquid is then equivalent to greywater and can be treated in a conventional greywater system. The UV filter runs for 3 – 5 years before changing bulb is needed.
Installations – Aquatron has been manufacturing Aquatron solid-liquid separators since 1986 with many systems sold in Scandinavia.
India – Since 2018, more than 50 comprehensive STP installations have been set up around India and there are another 50 in progress at diverse sites ranging from individual houses, schools and offices to hospitals, factories, large IT buildings and many more.
