SYSTEM

Summary – These 2 Aquatron models are 2 capacity,  full flush systems into removable wheeled bins with the Aquatron separator taking most liquids from the solids and adding them to drain liquids from the solids tank.

The liquids are joined with greywater into a UV treated system and out to a soil treatment area.

The solids are deposited into a wheeled binwhich makes it easy to remove full bins for composting while another bin is wheeled back into the system.

While they do not have the benefits of dry composting systems, they allow the benefits of a composting toilet for nutrient recycling in a situation where a full flush system is required.

System Type – Full Flush – Tank (Batch bins)

Liquids mode – Liquids and solids are combined in the flush toilet, so there is no urine separation in the standard system, although a urine separating toilet pedestal can be used if required.

Situation – The wagon 120  and 330 are both suited to smaller permanent household or holiday homes.
The 330 will last longer between changes and a better option if you have regular visitors.

An access and storage area is needed to store the second decomposing bin if the system is used continually in a permanent household.
For maximum, year round composting, this storage area should be above freezing.

Operation – – Like all aquatron systems, the pedestal is a standard flush toilet.

The Aquatron spinner separates the solids from the liquids and the solids go down into the wheeled bin.

The ability to easily roll the bins means you can easily replace a bin when full and leave the full bin to compost separately.
Composting worms can be added to speed up composting.

Liquids from the Aquatron separator and from drainage of the solids pile are UV treated and then further treated either in a greywater system or ground absorption bed.

Capacity
AQUATRON Wagon 120 – The bio chamber (120 liters) empties approximately every 250 visits.
AQUATRON Wagon 330 – The bio chamber (330 liters) empties approximately every 800 visits.

Design – The system is essentially  the “Aquatron Separator”, on top of a wheeled bin.

The “Aquatron Separator ”, takes most of the water out of the toilet deposits and combines it with liquids that drain from the bottom of the composting solids tanks and directs these combined liquids away through a UV filter and then on to below ground irrigation.
A raised, false bottom with drainage holes is located at the bottom of the solids bin for the liquids to drain.

The wheeled bin accepts the solids and when full, is swapped for another. The full bin then is left to undergo decomposition and eventual removal for use.

Construction – The pedestal is a conventional full flush ceramic toilet pedestal. The tank and components are made from recyclable polyethylene and glass reinforced polyester. The life span is 50 years.

Dimensions

  • Height: approx 121cm (total with separator ond bio chamber)
  • Size of bio chamber (LxWxH): 600x8660x695mm
  • Chamber volume: approx 120 liter

Certifications – European Technical Approval ETA-13/0078, SP Swedish National Testing and Research Institute report and Certificates of approval from SITAC. Copies of the reports are available on the site at http://www.aquatron.se/brochures/

Energy Use – There is no power consumption in the toilet and composting unit. If you choose to use the UV treatment for the greywater, then the unit uses 2 UV lamps. If one of the lamps breaks it activates an alarm signal.
Consumption is  30 W.

System Includes – – Tank and accessories, aquatron spinner and joining pipes. Remote systems require extra pipe and plumbing fittings. A UV system for treating the liquids is available.

Options Available – The two sizes available as indicated are for different usage requirements. A phosphorus filter is also available where warranted.

There is no urine separation in the standard system, although a urine separating toilet pedestal can be used if required.

Greywater Solution – A UV treatment system for greywater is available. The UV treatment eliminates bacteria and virus and the liquid is then equivalent to greywater and can be treated in a conventional greywater system. The UV filter runs for 3 – 5 years before changing the bulb is needed.

Installations -Aquatron has been manufacturing Aquatron solid-liquid separators since 1986 with many systems sold in Scandinavia.

India – Since 2018, more than 50 comprehensive STP installations have been set up around India and there are another 50 in progress at diverse sites ranging from individual houses, schools and offices to hospitals, factories, large IT buildings and many more.
