Summary – The Air Head Composting toilet is a solidly built urine diverting composting toilet designed mainly for marine use, but that can be easily RV or house without major alterations. Easy to use and install.

Situation – Designed primarily for marine use, it is also suitable for recreational vehicle and tiny house use, it is also suitable for light domestic and holiday house use.
Operation – The unit is used sitting down and the bowl is designed to separate the urine from the solids.
Men must use the unit sitting down.
The urine is collected by a container at the front and is removed when full for use in the garden or into a ground soakaway.
The container has a small window to check the urine level.
The urine container can be removed without opening the solids chamber.
The solids container is directly below and there is an opening lid that is activated by a lever on the side of the unit.
For each solids use a paper lining (coffee filter) is used and after each use a stainless steel crank is turned to mix the solid contents.
The solids partially compost, particularly with light use where the unit may not need to be implied for months. For heavier use, the solids may need to be emptied weekly and so a suitable composting area or an appropriate disposal facility is needed.
The solid container is the unit itself and not a separate container, so it must be completely removed for emptying. The top can be removed and two fasteners on each side undone and the bottom unit removed for emptying and cleaning.
Capacity – The system is designed for regular low level use such as 2 persons regularly or more intermittent As it is a batch system, new holding tanks could be purchased if more capacity is needed.
Design – The design is a urine separating, in house installation with electric fan for drying and venting and a removable compost chamber for outside composting.
The toilet is a tall unit that is attached to the floor with the mounts included and the only other filing requirement is the venting system and fan electrics.
As with other in-house units, the system does not require a tank underneath and relies on the composting / holding chamber underneath.
Construction – The unit is solid construction (6mm thick) high density resin with stainless steel parts
Energy Use – A small fan is needed to run at all times. It draws 80 mA (12 volt DC). As it is 12 volt it can be connected directly to most solar PL systems. Or in household situations it will need a transformer to reduce the voltage

Options Available – The options of a Household or Marine version are available.. The marine version has a smaller toilet seat as the hinge at the back is set forward to allow the unit to sit tighter against the wall at the back. There is also a hull shaped bottom tank version for eleven tighter fitting in a smaller boat with the bathroom at the front.
A left or right side crank is also available.
Also a smaller urine tank is available to reduce forward area.
Options for the venting are also available depending on the situation you are installing it.
Greywater Solution – The system is for toilet wastes only and there is no provision for greywater treatment.
